GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIESUnder the general supervision of the Executive Director, provides program direction and supervision for the Foster Grandparent Program and supervises the FGP Assistant position RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Coordinator administers the Foster Grandparent Program, a nationally and locally sponsored program. The Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation of the FGP Program, serving as a liaison between Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS) and Project Concern, Inc. This position requires a well developed understanding of older persons. The Coordinator works with low income persons age 60 or older, community schools and institutions, special needs/ at-risk children and the public. This position provides a variety of routine and complex supervisory, accounting, finance and administrative work in accordance with official Federal policy. EXAMPLES OF WORK1. Supervises, trains and evaluates the FGP Assistant position 2. Provide staff assistance to the FGP Advisory Council; consult with the FGP Advisory Council on policies, action changes, goals and problems affecting the program. 3. Recruits, selects and, trains new enrollee Foster Grandparents. 4. Provide orientation and monthly in-service programs for the Foster Grandparents. 5. Works with schools to establish appropriate volunteer stations, develops and maintains work week schedules, and prepares Memorandum of Understanding with these stations. 6. Maintain cooperative working relations with community service agencies and organizations that could benefit from the FGP Program. 7. Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer sites and individual FGP's as required. 8. Along with the Assistant, arrange FGP direct benefits, information and referral and provides necessary counsel and support. 9. Supervises the Assistant with developing and maintaining FGP financial, personnel, program and volunteer records according to CNCS requirements including the payment of stipends, earned leave records, transportation, daily meals, annual physical examinations, accident insurance, uniforms, annual evaluations and recognition. 10.. Adhere to the approved budget and authorized program expenditures applying sound financial procedures. 11. Adhere to and administer personnel policies and procedures with program staff and the FGP's. 12. Attend CNCS training programs and other appropriate meetings and conferences as required by CNCS and the sponsor. 13. Write project continuation grant and prepare the budget, in conjunction with the Executive Director, on an annual basis. 15. Organizes and directs external fund raising, monitors and prepares necessary reports of in-kind contributions to the program. QUALIFICATIONSI. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES -Ability to supervise and motivate assigned staff and volunteers. I. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGA degree in human/social service or related field is desired. Significant experience in a human services, elderly or working with special needs populations will be considered.
